Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT - Corporate Giving

Chartwell Retirement Residences has always believed in supporting charitable causes important to our employees and residents.  We approach charitable giving as an opportunity to build and sustain strong community relationships while supporting the needs of seniors.

Through our new corporate giving partnership with the Canadian Diabetes Association, we have embraced the opportunity to help raise awareness about the fight against diabetes through fundraising in our homes, including our Recipes for Health seminars for seniors, and by offering information to our employees and their family members who are living with or are at risk for diabetes.

We are proud to have donated over $100,000 to the Canadian Diabetes Association in 2011 and over $225,000 to Osteoporosis Canada during our partnership with them between 2006-2010.

As well, in tribute to the 65th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, in 2010 Chartwell published HONOUR, a moving portrait of 35 WWII veterans and those who supported the war effort. Featuring photos by renowned Canadian photographer Yuri Dojc, and accompanied by interviews with the veterans, the book offers a reflective telling of their war time experiences from a deeply personal perspective.  Books are available by ordering here or at Chartwell homes across CanadaNet proceeds of this book are being donated to Canadian organizations committed to the remembrance of Canada's veterans, including The War Amps Operation Legacy, Sunnybrook Veterans Hospital and The Royal Canadian Legion.

Community Investment

In line with our commitment to build and sustain strong community relationships, we are proud of our corporate giving initiatives across Canada which are directed towards projects that support seniors in meaningful ways including lifestyle, health, safety and shelter.
