Director, BPMO

Reporting to the VP Business Project Management (BPMO), the Director, BPMO is the senior accountable BPMO resource assigned on complex business and technology change projects and acts in capacity of Senior Project Manager / Senior Business Analyst / Project Champion to lead and manage the projects through to successful completion by following a structured project management methodology and approach that aligns with PMI standards.

The ideal candidate possesses:

·        10-15+ years hands-on project management experience, preferably in the financial services, health care or real estate sectors

·         Bachelors degree or equivalent in engineering, computer science or business

·         PMP or CBAP professional designation

·         CMA, CGA or MBA preferred

·         Leadership in HRIS/Payroll implementation projects  

·         C-Suite reporting

·         Lean Six Sigma is considered an asset

·         Similar experience in consulting or business analyst capacity

·         Successful delivery in managing large, complex, cross-functional enterprise projects from initial requirements though to implementation and hand-over to the operations and support organization

·        Acquisition and Operational Integration initiatives

·        Experience with all corporate functions (Operations, HR, LR, Finance, IT, Marketing, Legal…)

·        Good understanding of change management practices and processes that address organization’s change readiness

·         Working knowledge and experience with ERP systems (HRIS/Payroll, Business Intelligence, Finance, Purchasing…) and Business Conversion projects

·         Proven Team Leader with excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization

·         Interacts effectively with the target audience to obtain buy-in on difficult issues (e.g., proposed changes in to business process or culture)

·         Facilitates sharing of information and ideas, assisting individuals and groups in reaching consensus; negotiates the needs of diverse groups 

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

·        Securing Executive Sponsor and leadership approval to initiate the project

·        Directing Project Managers and/or Business Analysts to ensure that business requirements are clearly documented, understood and approved

·        Defining the project scope, objectives and key deliverables and securing the required approvals

·        Developing, managing, and monitoring the project budget, resource plan, risks, issues and change management plans

·        Preparing and executing the overall project plan and managing all project dependencies

·        Defining the work, time and costs estimates and forecasts

·        Production of project deliverables

·        Managing progress to requirements and monitoring and controlling project work

·        Reporting progress to the sponsor and key stakeholders

·        Managing sponsor and stakeholder expectations and communications

·        Proactively addressing and resolving project issues as they arise

·        Continually assessing and driving to sponsor in-scope priorities

·        Identifying, communicating and managing cross-dept. impacts

·        Providing Strategic Project Portfolio Management and analysis

·        Shaping direction, methodology and ongoing development of the BPMO

·        Proactively manages client expectations by: 

1.     communicating issues, implications, risks, and results

2.     defining and prioritizing issues, problems, and opportunities

3.     gaining consensus on what needs to be done

4.     recommending approaches and solutions

5.     clearly communicating scope, timing, cost, deliverables and resources 

·        Develops Project Managers and Business Analysts

·        Motivates and encourages team members by probing them for new ideas and fostering enthusiasm

·        Resolves issues and encourages co-operation among teams with conflicting goals and objectives

·        Trains new staff in the technical fundamentals of the job
