Real Estate Development Manager

Reporting to the Senior Vice President Development,  the Real Estate Development Manager, will be responsible for identifying project sites and undertaking development project due diligence.   Project scope will include but not be limited to new, infill and renewal projects. 
The ideal candidates will possess:
·         Understanding of real estate and the development industry;
·         The ability to manage timelines, adhere to schedules, and manage processes;
·         Strong, sound and timely decision-making abilities;
·         Effective communication skills that include excellent written, oral and presentation abilities;
·         The ability to communicate and adhere to Chartwell’s vision and mission;
·         Proficiency with MS Office;
·         The ability to participate in extensive travel;
·         Be a self-starter and be disciplined;
·         Strong positive and problem solving attitude.
·         Travel required.
Practicing our corporate values of R.E.S.P.E.C.T., the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
·         Investigate seniors housing development opportunities as proposed and in various markets;
·         Gather and analyze economic, demographic and real estate date for projects and other real estate purposes;
·         Liaise with appraisers and real estate brokers to identify development lands;
·         Undertake market research/feasibility by coordinating market demand and supply studies and provide a competitive analysis of findings;
·         Undertake site feasibility assessing municipal and site condition analysis;
·         Coordinate consultants to establish concept plans to meet organizational expectations;
·         Prepare project development pro formas;
·         Assist in the preparation of investment packages;
·         Manage multiple projects and in some cases monitor projects from start to finish where appropriate;
·         Work closely with all stakeholders at Chartwell with a vested interest in each project including but not limited to Operations, Marketing and Real Estate;
·         Initiate concept designs with consultants and coordinate information for development project costing;
·         Report to senior management and joint venture partners as appropriate of project milestones;
·         Establish a positive and contributory presence with development group team members and ensure diligent, consistent and organized processes for work flow;
·         Support relationships as established within and externally with the organization;
·         Conduct oneself at all times as a leader, as an Ambassador of Chartwell and promote the organization positively;
·         Provide guidance and direction to consultants during the diligence period;
·         Demonstrate a strong and committed work ethic;
·         Working closely with development group members and other departments.
