Director, Online Presence

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director Online Presence is responsible for the overall success of Chartwell’s online strategy.  The Director Online Presence is responsible for directing the overall growth and strategic direction of our organization's online presence by developing and managing a comprehensive online strategy, external and internal, that will maximize the value of Chartwell’s online presence to our potential new residents, employees, investors and other stakeholders. 

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • Over Seven (7) years online experience, including managing strategy development, content development and acquisition, and website development
  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years’ experience managing online marketing
  • A university degree in a relevant field of study
  • Strong knowledge of Website production technologies, including popular content management platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML and experience with popular content management systems
  • Experience in marketing technology innovation and systems
  • Extensive experience with analytical tools including Google Analytics, etc.
  • Good knowledge of user experience, site usability requirements, and a strong sense of design
  • Industry experience, a definite asset
  • Demonstrated project management expertise, or PMP
  • An experienced and highly effective manager, equipped to manage cross-functional teams, full time and contractor resources, and on and offsite teams.
  • Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team
  • Ability to execute and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Capable of working as an individual and as part of a group; individual must be a strategic thinker who is highly analytical.
  • Extensive contacts in the online space
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Leadership, strategic vision, and forming new working relationships quickly are essential -- much of this role requires the candidate to assess a situation, recommend a course of action, and then guide others down that path.

Practicing our corporate values of R.E.S.P.E.C.T., the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Understand Chartwell’s strategy and ensure our online presence is aligned with our strategy
  • Develop an online strategy that supports the company's overall goals and oversee all aspects of its implementation
  • Lead a team of two professionals as well as a cross functional team to facilitate and expedite content creation, design development and implementation, and on-line partnership building.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and execute strategies that take advantage of these opportunities
  • Develop business cases for new website enhancements and online marketing campaigns; monitor, track, and report the ROI of existing enhancements and campaigns.
  • Develop, expand, and manage current site designs continuously incorporating new features and functionality
  • Implement and continuously improve search engine optimization and marketing strategies
  • Be responsible for increasing website visitors and online-originated prospect visits through SEM / PPC / SEO and other online marketing techniques.
  • Plan and implement on-site and off-site optimization strategies to achieve high organic listings in search engine results pages.
  • Contribute business process insight based on analytics to assess current online strategies and challenges and anticipate new needs
  • Develop data analytics and performance metrics to evaluate success of our online strategies, including regular reporting
  • Ensure that our web presence is fully accessible and complies with the latest standards of accessibility
  • Maintain current knowledge of developments in the field and on innovations in the world of online information and marketing innovation.
  • Identify and execute strategic partnerships, internal and external, to acquire compelling content, features, and online tools that support the website strategy
  • Alert colleagues to emerging technologies or applications and the opportunities to integrate them into our operations and activities
  • Ensure up-to-date, detailed competitor and market analysis using industry tools is maintained.
  • Participating in regular sales and marketing meetings, as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned
