Activity Aide

Our well-appointed, full service retirement residence requires a part-time Activity Aide. The ideal candidate will be a cheerful person who will coordinate activity programs to meet the residents’ interests and needs at Quail Creek Retirement Centre in Renfrew, Ontario. The Activity Aide possesses the ability to develop, implement, and evaluate diversified programs and services to meet the social, physical, intellectual, emotional, vocational and spiritual needs of all residents.

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience with activity planning in a retirement community or health care environment;
  • A Degree or Diploma in Recreation/Activation/Gerontology studies or a related field or equivalent working experience along with current First Aid and CPR certification (asset);
  • Along with a valid G license, the candidate must have or be willing to acquire an F class license to drive and accompany the residents to various social outings using the company bus
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the delivery of diverse social services and volunteer programs;
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal and team relationships;
  • Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors;
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of related software programs;
  • Availability to work various shifts including days/evenings/weekends
Drawing on their excellent communication and organizational skills, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
  • Identifying and assessing the residents’ needs to develop fulfilling activities;
  • Encouraging resident participation in programs;
  • Providing one on one support to residents while promoting interrelationships within our community;
  • Providing support with the process of forecasting and monitoring expenditures of funds allocated to activation/recreation budgets;
  • Providing residents with a safe and comfortable environment by remaining aware of risk management issues that could compromise safety or incur liability;
  • Maintaining excellent documentation systems;
  • Participating in strategic planning and quality management practices.
Successful candidates must provide a current criminal record check and vulnerable sector search.
