Retirement Position Summaries
General Manager
Utilize your leadership skills! In this role you will be responsible for the overall operation of a full-service retirement residence. You will direct and support the management team and provide oversight to the financial management of the retirement community, including budget planning, while achieving resident and employee satisfaction and ensuring that the residence meets or exceeds their occupancy targets.
Resident Services Manager
This role is an exciting career opportunity for a caring Registered Nurse or a Registered Practical Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse who has a passion for seniors. In this role you will hire, train and supervise the resident care team and assume responsibility for the provision of quality care and support services for residents. You also provide overall management oversight in the absence of the General Manager. You will play a principal role as you liaise with resident families, physicians and all community health care agencies.
Food Service Manager
As an enthusiastic, customer-service focused leader you will be responsible for all aspects of the food service department, including meal preparation and the hiring and supervision of dietary staff. The ideal candidate brings experience as a manager in food services with formal training in food handling and presentation, budget control, inventory and ordering processes and menu planning.
Sales and Marketing Manager
Bring your strong sales and marketing experience to one of our retirement communities and become a valued member of the Chartwell team. In this role, you will develop and implement marketing plans and advertising campaigns, conduct tours and lease suites while promoting our retirement residence as you develop and foster partnerships within the local community.
Lifestyle and Program Manager
This position is well suited to an enthusiastic person with a background in the field of recreation, activation and leisure services. In this role, you will coordinate activity programs to meet the residents’ interests and needs. As well as developing fulfilling activities, you will create a monthly activity calendar and encourage resident participation in programs.
Community Relations Manager
This dual role position is well suited to an enthusiastic person with a background in the field of recreation, activation and leisure services. In this role, you will coordinate activity programs to meet the residents’ interests and needs. As well as developing fulfilling activities, you will create a monthly activity calendar and encourage resident participation in programs. You will actively promote sales and marketing initiatives in the retirement residence by conducting tours, managing inquiries and following-up on leads.
Administrative Support/Administrative Assistant/Concierge
This role is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and dependable person with excellent customer service skills. The Administrative Assistant performs a variety of reception, secretarial and administrative support activities to enhance the operation of the residence. The role includes general office duties, operating and managing the telephone system to efficiently direct incoming calls, typing reports and statements, preparing minutes, maintaining records and files, and processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. In addition, you will offer a warm welcome and provide hospitable service to incoming residents and guests as well as respond to inquiries from residents, family members and visitors.
Business Services Manager/Office Manager
This role is primarily responsible for preparing financial reports and resident billings, recording census and reflecting changes on billing, and processing accounts payable and receivable.
Maintenance Staff
Make a difference! The incumbent will handle the repairs and overall building maintenance processes in a retirement residence. Some of the duties/skills required for this position include painting, cleaning, plumbing, yard work, unloading deliveries and assisting residents with repairs or maintenance requirements in their rooms. The primary responsibilities for this position include completing various routines for preventative maintenance, general repairs and upkeep, daily monitoring of building systems, conducting monthly fire drills and overseeing service contracts.
Cook
Bring your proven cooking skills to the forefront in this role. The primary responsibilities for this position include preparing and cooking meals for our senior residents according to the menus in place, assisting/supervising the dietary staff while ensuring a clean and safe work environment is maintained and general kitchen duties. Knowledge of specialized diets is an asset.
Long Term Care Position Summaries
Administrator
Drawing on your excellent interpersonal and leadership skills,you will be responsible for the overall operation of a long term care home. You will lead the management team to provide excellent care and services within the home, maintain standards of resident care and services to meet resident expectations and also to ensure compliance with provincial government requirements and develop and manage the home’s budget.
Director of Care
Perfect for a Registered Nurse looking to advance their clinical and management skills. In this role you will be responsible for managing all aspects of resident care including, but not limited to, infection control, health and safety, wound management, pain control, care and palliative care, resident assessment and classification. You will hire, orientate, evaluate and educate staff, participate in matters surrounding union contracts, and develop the goals and objectives for the nursing department. In addition, you will develop and manage the nursing department budget.
Registered Nurse
Playing a pivotal role in a long term care home, you will be responsible for ensuring that the nursing care routines are followed, providing direction to all personal care staff, and orientating new staff. You will play a key leadership role as you actively participate in family conferences and discuss resident needs with physicians and other health care disciplines. You will use your full scope of practice as you monitor and evaluate the quality of nursing care and performance through physical assessments with residents and administering medications and treatment.
Registered Practical Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse
Put your analytical and assessment skills and good decision-making abilities to the forefront in this role. As a team leader in a long term care home you will supervise the personal care staff and administer medication and treatments. You will use your full scope of practice as you assist with nursing care routines and administer basic wound care.
Recreation Director/ Resident Support Services Manager
As a self-motivated team leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the scheduling of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, volunteers and registered dieticians and budgets as well as activities that provide a variety of meaningful programs to meet the physical, psychological, social, emotional and spiritual needs of the residents. In addition, you will be responsible for promoting the principals of activation throughout the long term care home while ensuring the provision of an appropriate program of activities for all residents through the assessment and evaluation of their needs.
Business Manager
As an active member of the management team, this role is primarily responsible for preparing monthly financial reports, resident billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and maintenance of both resident financial records and employee records.
Social Worker / Family Service Worker
As an active member of our senior staff team, you will provide support to residents and families, conduct tours and interviews with prospective residents, facilitate admissions, provide individual counselling/intervention services and discharge planning. In addition, you will develop and maintain a good resident care relationship with the Community Care Access Centre, organize and attend interdisciplinary conferences and participate in continuous quality improvement activities and the accreditation committee.
Personal Support Worker/Care Aide
In this role you will truly make a difference in someone’s day! The incumbent will provide support and assistance with daily living activities for senior adults in a long term care home according to individual care plans. Duties include providing support in the following areas: toileting, bathing, personal grooming, ambulation and dining assistance.
Housekeeping Aide
Draw on your customer service skills in this role. The incumbent has experience working with chemicals, cleaning products and heavy cleaning equipment. The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, cleaning residents’ rooms, offices and common areas.
Laundry Aide
This role suits an energetic, self-motivated person. The incumbent will be responsible for the laundering of resident linens and their personal laundry. The ideal candidate is able to work independently while observing policies and procedures as well as work standards and safety regulations.
