Our retirement community offers valuable independent living services that allow you to comfortably age in place, including delicious and nutritious meals and weekly housekeeping. Optional services include linen service, medication management, as well as a variety of personalized care services tailored to your needs. In addition, we have our very own shuttle bus, used for outings and private bookings. 

Here, you can choose from a selection of suites that come in large and bright studios featuring full kitchenettes, as well as one-bedroom layouts, some with private balconies and fireplaces. You’ll find our caring and dedicated staff strive to exceed expectations so you can enjoy the comforts and security of home, plus the peace of mind you deserve.

We offer a variety of contemporary on-site amenities that serve as gathering places for our many lifestyle experiences, including a chapel, bistro, sunroom, library, social dining room and more. If you like being outdoors, you'll love our award-winning landscaped grounds, which serve as a peaceful sanctuary for residents looking to be closer to nature. You may also find yourself taking your morning paper and coffee into our lush greenspace—dotted with patio furniture and mature trees—to relax under the shade of our gazebo, or perhaps tending your flowers or vegetables in our raised garden beds. You can also go for a peaceful stroll along our paved walking paths around the residence - the choice is yours!

Chartwell Pembroke Heritage feels like a village—our garden-like setting and charming building design contribute to that, but it’s also our residence’s friendly, vibrant atmosphere, where everyone is included and supported to live a life that’s active, engaged and fulfilling. You’ll find our LiveNow life enrichment program offers many experiences, activities, and amenities in which to pursue your passions and socialize with others. Residents enjoy choir practice, exercise classes in the fitness studio, and guest speaker presentations. We also offer several dedicated spaces to enjoy our activities, including a lounge, TV room, library, and chapel. Of course, you are completely free to choose how and where to spend your day!

Chartwell Pembroke Heritage offers modern, spacious independent living in your choice of studio and one-bedroom suites. Studios feature a combined living/dining/sleeping space with spacious bathroom and kitchenette, with some layouts including a patio or balcony. Or you may prefer our larger one-bedroom suites, with a living/dining room, separate bedroom, and bathroom; some layouts also feature a kitchenette and/or patio or balcony. Our residence is pet friendly too! 

Retirement living in Pembroke   

Tucked into a lush village setting on Pembroke Street West, Chartwell Pembroke Heritage enjoys proximity to Pembroke’s beautiful Riverside Park on the banks of the Ottawa River, and the pretty Kiwanis Waterfront Trail. Just a short walk away, the West End Mall meets residents’ shopping, banking and pharmacy needs. Dining out is easy with a good choice of chain and independent restaurants, including a renowned local burger spot. Residents enjoy a range of recreational and cultural amenities, and are served by the local hospital and several medical clinics. 

Things to do in Pembroke

Pembroke is a small town with a big personality—and a little bit of something to do for everyone. Known as the heart of the scenic Ottawa Valley, and located between Ottawa and North Bay, Pembroke celebrates its heritage to the delight of residents and visitors alike. The town is known for its 30 Heritage Murals that tell artistic stories of the area’s history.  

Stroll the revitalized downtown, stopping by boutiques, locally-owned restaurants, and the Farmer’s Market—home to a winter Soupfest—to enjoy the community feel and relaxed atmosphere. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, you’ll never run out of things to do: the Ottawa River attracts canoeists and has great fishing too. Summer strollers love the Kiwanis Waterfront Trail, while winter enthusiasts enjoy the curling club. 

Pembroke is also a hub for the region’s dynamic arts, culture and education scene. The Festival Hall Centre for the Arts hosts name entertainment, while Algonquin College offers a wide variety of adult education courses.
