Things to do in Oakville

Travel south to Oakville’s southern border along the blue waters of Lake Ontario, and you’ll find something for everyone—food and drink lovers, boutique shoppers, arts and culture enthusiasts, architecture buffs, history aficionados, gardeners, walkers, and everyone in between. Travel north, and you’ll find a town that’s not just preserved and promoted its historic waterfront district, but also its abundance of natural land, parks, and recreation spaces, including Bronte Creek Provincial Park—a paradise for walkers, boaters, cyclists, disc golfers, and all those interested in the array of excellent education programs.

Downtown Oakville is full of excellent restaurants, casual spots, bakeries, and craft breweries. One-of-a-kind boutiques and galleries line Lakeshore Road, where you’ll find handmade and sustainable goods and fashions. In the summer, be sure to attend the Songs of Summer Festival, as well as other weekend food and drink festivals happening in the Bronte Harbour area. The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts offers year-round theatre, musical, and dance entertainment, while you’ll find a more subdued but equally engaging experience with a visit to the Oakville Museum. If you’re a history buff and a golfer (remember to book a brunch at the renowned Glen Abbey Course), you will also be interested in exploring the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame.
